Massage Service Descriptions

Swedish Massage
A wonderfully relaxing massage. Swedish massage increases circulation and releases toxins form the muscles to relax and soothe a tired body and mind. It can shorten recovery time from muscular strain and prevent injury by keeping the muscles flexible and free of metabolic wastes. Great for stress management.

Deep Tissue Massage
Massage that focuses on the deeper layers of muscles. This type of massage separates and loosens muscle fibers, releases deeply held patterns of tension, and helps break up or eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage is known to be both therapeutic and deeply relaxing.

Myotherapy
A type of trigger point therapy developed by physical therapist Bonnie Prudden in 1976. Myotherapy tracks and diffuses trigger points throughout the body followed by stretching for the muscles that have been released in order to re-educate them. Examples of chronic pain that my be alleviated using this method are headaches, back aches, and TMJ; anything that is not caused by anatomical pathology that requires medical attention. Myotherapy is conducted fully clothed and is not combined with massage in the same session. It may take several sessions to fully track and diffuse the trigger points.

Sports Massage
For athletes and is performed during training, before, and after the event. Massage during your training for an event will help increase flexibility, lessen your chances of injury, prevent scar tissue build-up due to overexertion or overuse, and help with fatigue. Pre-event sports massage is very vigorous and will warm up the primary muscles that are used during that particular event. Post-event massage is deeply relaxing and combined with stretching to reduce post-event soreness, swelling, and recovery time.

Hot Stone Massage
A 1hour to 90 minute massage performed primarily with heated basalt stones that are warmed in a roaster filled with water. The stones are heated to approximately 125 degrees and always held in the therapists bare hands to ensure the stones will not burn the client. Hot stones have a way of penetrating and relaxing the muscles and tissues from the inside out making this great for anyone that is touch sensitive, such as those that suffer from fibromyalgia. Hot stone massage not only soothes sore and achy muscles, improves circulation, and releases toxins but also relaxes you at a deep level which completely calms the psyche. You might want to give yourself some time to enjoy the feeling after this massage as it leaves your mind and body feeling nurtured and extremely relaxed.

Raindrop Therapy
Aromatherapy treatment. The essential oil of 7 herbs- thyme, oregano, wintergreen, cypress, peppermint, basil, and marjoram- are dropped up the back like raindrops. While these oils are being applied they are being massaged into the skin using specific massage strokes that calm and stimulate the nervous system. These oils and massage tone down negative energy followed by Frankincense essential oil that encourages positive energy leaving you feeling relaxed and at ease. This treatment is very effective at relaxing those who are under extreme stress, have high anxiety, or are grieving.

Detoxifying Herbal Wrap
This body wrap will leave your body feeling relaxed and your skin feeling nourished. A mix of herbs combined with heat are used to pull toxins out of the body through the skin, increase circulation and lymphatic flow, and relieve tension in the body. We also add seaweed extract to tone and nourish the skin. Add to a massage for a fully detoxifying experience.

Paraffin Wax Treatment
Relaxes the muscles and softens the skin. Give your tired hands and feet the treat they deserve.
